Sunday, January 15, 2006: A day of beauty and bonding.
Today was my last day of Christmas break. After church I went with my family to Culvers and had lunch then it was back to school for me. My father and I left around 1:00 central time and got to rapid at 11:00 central (10 mountain). Not a bad treck and all. We slowed down for a bit between Wall and Rapid because the wind was picking up and making the car struggle a bit, also giving bad gas mileage.
I was excited yet a bit not to leave to go back. I am finally getting used to being home and into the swing of things and now I was ripped out of it and brought back to school where I had been getting used to college finally and was brought back home. I don’t know anymore. Crazy life. I love it in all, but it’s crazy.
My dad and I took 169 to 7 which goes past my grandparent’s house. We had to then stop and say hi to them. When we did, we just knocked on the door and walked right in. I think they were happy to see us. My grandma gave me a few hugs, we (mainly my dad, I just stood there and looked pretty) talked to them for a half an hour. Grandpa gave me $50 he shows love in giving. It’s nice though. I wasn’t going to fight about that.
We drove past my mom’s college that she went to her first year, South West State in southern Minnesota. Also my dad and I talked a lot. Call it bonding time. We talked about relationships. It was interesting to hear it from his point of view. Like my parents relationship and how when they got married it was make or break kind of thing, and how grandpa didn’t like it when my dad told him my mom and dad were going to get married. Told him that he should finish college and that you should make sure make sure he loves her. Grandpa and grandma got married because of their parents and my grandma was only 16. I don’t think I could do that.
Another thing my dad and I talked about was Church and things like that. All in all I really enjoyed spending the time with my dad. I think it is the most I talked to him all Christmas break. Him and I are much alike. Both of us were talking about cameras and what cool picture opportunities we had in front of us with the beautiful sunset ahead of us. I love my daddy! He means the world to me.
bedtime on:
Wednesday night- 2:00
Thursday night- 4:30
Friday night- 3:00 tonight- priceless... I don't know, hopefully earlier than that.Tomorrow is the big day. After church my father and I are leaving to head back to Spearfish, Sodak. I am excited yet a little sad. This week has been awesome. In all honesty I thought it would suck cause Jon is back at college and I am stuck at home. But I was totally wrong. This week rocked my socks off. fun activities:
Monday- Bonding time with Dena
Tuesday- Kaylo came over and spent all day with me and my family
Wednesday-Worked 11-2, 4-7 and read a book inbetween the two shifts
Thursday- Went to Target with my mom and then ended up on the phone all night
Friday- Hung out with Nathaniel and Chris prety much all day except the few hour break. Saturday- Went to the mall with my sister and had a great bonding time. I love my beautiful sister, Erin.As I said, today I got up and went with my family to get Erin's ice-skates sharpened, pick up my film and check, lunch with the family, then off to the mall with Erin. Her and I walked around the mall. Found a few cool things to buy. I got what I was actually looking for which was a zip up hoodie. Then we sat on a bench and waited for my dad to pick us up. I love spending time with her. She has grown so much since a few years ago. When I say that I dont just mean went through puberty, I mean in her personality and finding herself. She is so cute! When I got home from school I looked at her and was like, "wowzers what a beauty." no joke. The last part of my night has been making more caramel corn with my parents. I wanted to make it so I could take some back with me to college and give it to shelli and jenny. I hope they like it. Right now I am sitting in the living room ripping music from my sisters cds onto my laptop. shhh, dont tell her. . . just kidding.Christmas break is finally coming to an end. . .
Today was Friday the 13th, and there was a full moon this evening.... ooohhhh!!!
Last night i called chris and we ended up talking until 4 in the morning. we talked for over 5 hours on the phone. i think that is quite the record for me. i am not much of a phone person lately except when i talk to jon. chris and i finally decided by the end of the conversation that we were going to get together at 10 o'clock and then call nathaniel and probably stop over at his house, depending on what he had going on.
A little before 10 this morning chris picked me up in her VW Beatle (yes, she had flowers on the dash). we then called nathaniel from my cell and headed over to his house to hang out with him. that is after he put some "real" pants on. haha, thats great. The three of us hung out at his house for quite a while. prety much sat in the same spot for the whole time; except we switched spots a few time, like i went from the chair to the bed. then chris went from the bed to the chair. we even ate lunch in Nathaniels room. I really enjoyed talking with the two of them. kinda just a catch up on eachothers life. well, more-so for me cause i have been away for so long. Chris and Nathaniel are great people, I am so glad that God has blessed me with friends like them. they are people that you may not see forever but yet the friendship is still there. i like that.
a few inside things for my own sake. "I am going to throw cheese at him." "you going to chuck the curds?" "man these stairs are tall." "that's 'cause you are so short." .... haha that's so mean.I learned about Nathaniels soon to be girlfriend, Erin. she shounds like a great find. I am happy for Nathaniel, that is cool. Also, when Chris had to leave for work she drove me home and we decided to get together after they were done. After Nathaniel got done with work around 10, he picked me up and we went to marty's house. We finished watching the Red Green Show and headed downstairs. Chris and I played darts while the other two played ping pong. I got my first bulseye. i was prety close a few times while we were playing, but batabing-batabang and i had a bulseye. it was out of nowhere, i didnt even try. wow. Then the four of us played a game. In the game you asked a question and the other people had to write an answer and then the contestant (that is what i will call them) had to guess who wrote what. fun fun. Great night, great fun! life is good. . . I couldn't ask for better. . . (ok so i probably could but it sounded better this way)
today i worked all day. actually i woke up quite a few times last night. i just couldnt sleep. i dont know why. then i woke up around 6am cause mom and i were going to go to walmart and target after we dropped erin off at school. but then dad decided to take erin to school so after i took my shower and was getting ready my mom told me that so i went back to bed and woke up again around 10. i got ready and we went to walmart, dropped off my film and she then dropped me off at work. i worked 11-2, 4-7 and inbetween i sat on a couch and read one of the books about photography my sister got me for christmas.work wasnt the most exciting today. the last day im working before i go back to school. I dont even have any funny or intersting story from work today. that is prety sad. oh except rachel and i talked about school. and she knows who my brother is. the one who rode the bus wearing huge headphones that looked like earmuffs. haha.from work to church, where i went straight on the platform to be a back up worship singer. then after church i went home and have been wasting time doing questionairs for myspace and talking to shana. i love shana, miss her much! it made my day to talk to her. now i am blogging and still talking to shana and now talking to jon. he is hoping that he gets on the team this year, so he can go to Utah. he said it was some of the most beautiful country he has seen. i wish him the best of luck. it may be his last chance for a while to do that...goodnight friends, bedtime is coming soon
Today was good. After I woke up to the sun shining in my eyes I took a shower and got ready for the day. Dena and I had plans for this afternoon. At 1:45 I got a little worried. She said she would be picking me up somewhere between 1-2 and I hadn’t yet heard from her. I called her, no one answered. At that point I decided not to look forward to the rest of the day. Sometimes I just over assume things. I didn’t want my heart to be let down by my good friend Dena. So I ended up moseying around the house trying to think of things to do, ending up playing with Mya. Then, the phone rang. Dena said she would was on her way.
When Dena arrived at our house my mom and her got into a conversation about China and adoption. After about an hour of conversing with my mother, Dena and I headed out the door. We ended up stopping at Caribou Coffee in Blaine. I got some hot cocoa and she got this apple cider stuff. The two of us sat on the couch chatting it away. I think that things are better now between the two of us because we are on the same level. Both have boyfriends, both in college, and so on…
After Caribou Coffee we headed back to her house and hung out there. We played a few games and talked. I ended up showing her my www.facebook.com pictures. Showed her the picture of Erin Dugan, my roommate. Also I showed her some pictures from CV and Freshmen Bible Study and just the people I hang out with. It was nice to be able to talk to someone about school in any depth. Ya know, you get the questions-> how’s school? You liking school? Finding friends? But you don’t get much depth. So it was good to be able to share those things with someone besides Jon.
We then went to Northtown Mall to get some food. We decided to go there because it is an in between spot for the two of our houses. We went into Deb and looked at some clothes. There was some cute stuff, a lot of sales. Neither of us bought much. After Deb, it was to the food court. We went to the Chinese place and they said there was a wait. Her and I went back to a table and she taught me a new card game. I liked it. I think that I actually won. It was all for kicks and grins though. The two of us then ate our food and went to Steve and Barry’s. The radio over-head started to play a song by Reliant K. I told Dena, “Yeah, Reliant K had gone sexual.” She laughed so hard at me. Ok, ok, so I said the wrong thing. After a few minutes of laughing I corrected myself and said they are “mainstream.” That was a little better. When done at Steve and Barry’s the night was coming to an end. We drove back to my house, said our goodbyes and there I was again, alone with my shadow.
as i rolled over this morning and looked up at my window, i could see the bright sun shining through the cracks in the shades. my heart lept as i could feel the vitamin D running through my vains. ok ok so it wasnt that moving but waking up to a cloudless sky in minnesota totally made my day.
so the day is half way over. i dont really know what to write. today hasnt been the most interesting. i got up early, went to chruch with my parents, sang on the worship team probably for the last time for a long time, went to sundayschool with the teens even though i am too old. didnt know what to do when the pastors grandson was flurting with me. talked to some friends, and then came back home and read a bit farewell to arms while lying in my nice warm bed with "phat" herman laying on top of my legs. i then decided that i needed a nap and fell asleep for the last few hours. i feel like i am just wasting my days away in bed. but i have nothing better to do, jon is gone back to billings, i cant drive, so what else is there to do. i have already done 2 puzzles, worked a bunch, attempted to bond with my parents and sisters. life is interesting to say the least. this afternoon i think i might fool around with the clarinet, get back into the swing of things there before i go back into band after skipping a semester. that and i havent played clarinet for 6 years in band, i have been playing the bass clarinet (which i like a lot, i enjoy it more) and the tenor sax. its going to be odd, and i'm going to be really bad when i go back into band. oh well, it should be fun anyways and an easy 1 credit A. also, since i got back to minnesota (if i havent already said this) i havent seen the sun much. it has been hidden behind the clouds that like to hover over minnesota in this time of year. i understand seasonal depression, getting no vitamin D from the sun. It was really nice the other day when i was hanging out with Chris, his g-friend, and jon the sun came out for only a few minutes. later that night though when jon and i were sitting by buffalo lake the moon was immaculaty shining from the sky and the stars were dazzling under the moons light.
so yesterday was jon's last full day here in minnesota before his christmas break was over. he is probably getting ready to go right now as i type or on his way.i got up early yesterday, or early according to my break schedule. i met jon and we were on our way to a day hanging out. we went to lunch at wendy's in maple grove with his friend chris and chris' girlfriend. that was fun. the two of them were cool. we hung out there for over an hour just joking around and whatever else. i guess talking you could say. then jon and i headed back to his house and fooled around on the computer for a while, drove around, went to pick up his car that his brother was working on at the greenhouse, then went to dinner with his family (his sister mary is still in town). we drove around and looked for things to do. we decided to go to the rollerskating rink that we had gone to last year; but it wasnt open. so that was off the list. we then drove around... stopped by buffalo lake and sat there rapped up in his EPB (emergency picnic blanket). after it got too cold for that we headed back for his house and watched Brother Where Art Thou. after everything said, i didnt get home until 4 o'clock in the morning. meaning he didnt get home till 5 o'clock. that is crazy in his part in that he is going to drive all night tonight back to college. but it is the last time we will see eachother until spring break in march. all the time spent together was worth it. I pray that he drives safe and makes it to college. I hope your christmas breaks are going well, or went well...
so today i had to work. at work we have announcements, birthdays, and something else for the workers that has to be done. today one of the announcements was that elmer fedderson passed away. he is one of my favorite people at farmstead. i miss him much. i looked up to him a lot. sometimes, he would just make my day at work. he's with God now though. its the best....
have you ever wished that an old man would stop hitting on you. . . well i have. so as you know i work at an assisted living home in andover, mn. skip, one of the residents hits on all the girls. he is the same one who i have talked about earlier in the story of a radish being chucked at the cook. he was the perpitrator. so i have worked a lot in the last week. i feel like it is all that i do. i hope the rest of my life doesnt end up like this. working, sleeping, eating, and so on.
the finished product.
this snowman was made my me and anna from work. it was made on our 30 minute break. the cook had left so we had all the freedon im the world. its eyes are olives, arms-celery, mouth-pickle (held in by tooth picks), buttons-cookie, and last of all is the hair-graited cheese. yeah i work in a kitchen. her and i couldnt stop laughing every time we saw it for the rest of the night. great times, great times!

the other picture is jon on the mound of snow yesterday after the movie.
yeah sorry i havent written in a while. i have been pushed into the husstle and busstle of the holidays. i havent really been doing much besides sitting at home, hanging out with jon, hanging out with my family, or working. jon and i went up to wisconsin state superior at the beginning of break to check out the college and the city. see whats happening. it was fun. we were a bit too sarcastic all day. but whatever i guess. we talked to the admissions guy while we were there. he gave us some good information and told jon that he had just been accepted and that the letter is in the mail. me, i just got in my high school transcript so they dont know. i am afraid that they wont accept me because my first semester of college my gpa wasnt the greatest, but i guess i shall wait and see. its all in God's hands now. this year was also the first year of jon and i going to eachothers christmas'. it was cool. a little aquward but whatever. i guess it has to start out that way to get better. i think as the nights went on we both started to feel a little more comfortable. it all ended up fine. i had fun being with my boyfriend.like i said, i have been working quite a bit of hours lately. i feel like a work a hollic. it sucks, but the money will be good, i guess... i had to work today which was good because it was double time because it is new years, oh yeah happy 2006 to you! but it sucked on the other hand because i missed out on seeing my relatives. today was the day to go to my grandparents house for christmas. it was a good day none the less.yesterday for new years eve, i worked. suprise suprise. then i went out to eat with my dad and mya. then met jon and we went to maple grove and hung out. went and saw narnia. i had already seen it. but i like it. i guess there are a few cheesy parts, but i have read the book and i really like it. whatever can i do? then him and i climbed on the snow piled in a parking lot. we were king and queen of the hill. it was fun. then we went to the park near by and fooled around on the snow covered playground. then headed back to my house. since i had to work today i thought it would be nice to get to bed not extrememly late.i didnt get home to late. around 1:30, not bad. but i couldnt sleep off and on through the night, my stomach hurt and i just kept waking up. one time when i woke up i threw up. that was grose, i wont give the details. i guess my sister had a fever of 101.3 and jon said he had a fever too. so maybe i am getting sick but it was just last night. i dont know. i went to work today anyways.i got to work early because my parents had to get to my granparents house so i went up into the loft, read a chapter in the book farewell to arms, and then proceeded to fall asleep on the couch. kinda funny. i fell asleep at work. anyways that is how my life has been going. not much else to say except good night
